Hilary Duff Headed for Austrialia
Hilary Duff Actress, Star and musician is making the pilgrimage to Australia before October 31, right in time for Australia’s premiere music event - the Australian Recording Industry
Association (ARIA) Awards.
However, neither her sister Haylie or ARIA organisers would confirm if Hilary was attending the October 29 event.
“My sister is definitely going there (Australia), but I am not sure why, all I know is that she will be there for Halloween,” 21-year-old Haylie said from her New York home.
“I have never been to Australia before, so hopefully I can come with her. That would be awesome.”
Australia was hit with a dose of the Duffs yesterday, with the launch of their new flick Material Girls.
In the comedy, Ava (Haylie) and Tanzie (Hilary) Marchetta are cosmetic heiresses swimming in extravagant riches.
But that changes when they go bankrupt.
Haylie, the eldest of the two, says the pair spoke about the possibility of their rich and famous lifestyle going belly up.
But these multi-millionaire Texas-born beauties wouldn’t care.
“If it went away we would move back to Texas and open up a coffee shop or something normal…we would be all right if it all went away,” she said.
Hilary came to prominence in 2001 as the star of Disney’s Lizzie McGuire television series.
Since then she has had starring roles in films Cheaper By The Dozen and A Cinderella Story and recently wrapped filming on A Perfect Man, alongside Heather Locklear.
Her debut album Metamorphosis sold over five million copies worldwide.
Haylie’s rise to the top began after appearing in Goldie Hawn’s directorial debut Hope.
The role scored her parts in the Addams Family Reunion and on television series Third Watch and Chicago Hope.
Currently she is making a name for herself on Broadway, as Amber Von Tussel in long-running hit musical Hairspray.
“Being on Broadway was a really big deal for me and it was something I wanted to do since I was little,” she said.
“I am living in New York on my own and in theatre for the first time. I haven’t done anything on my own before and it’s good to stay as far away from the superficial stuff as you can.”
By superficial she means the treacherous land of Hollywood, something Haylie says she and Hilary deny has affected them.
“I think you have to take it (fame) for what it is,” she said.
“It’s all about not giving into pressure about what other people are saying about you. It’s hard to hear it and as much as you want to block it out…it affects you. But we have each other.”
Currently juggling Broadway and a role on US series 7th Heaven, Haylie says she hopes she doesn’t burn out.
“I hope that isn’t going to be my fate,” she laughs.
“I want to pace myself and work a lot, but achieve things one at a time. Hopefully that will be the way I get to work forever and ever.
